AHEDD
Receives School to Work Grant from
the Greater
Harrisburg
Foundation
CAMP HILL

PA
(February 3, 2006) -- AHEDD is the recipient of a
$1,500 grant award from the Greater Harrisburg Foundation.
AHEDD is a regional human resource organization with a
mission to serve the community as a catalyst in the employment and
development of persons with disabilities.
The grant funds will be used to provide school to work
transition services to special education students enrolled in the
Harrisburg
and
Middletown
School Districts
.
Students
will participate in one-on-one individualized career counseling
sessions that will focus in their need areas. The program will
teach them to research career areas of interest, employment soft
skills and employer expectations. Students will have the
opportunity to participate in activities such as job shadowing,
mock interviews, job placement experiences, job coaching, and/or
college exploration and campus tours.
The
Greater Harrisburg Foundation is a regional component of The
Foundation for Enhancing Communities. The Foundation provides
support to nonprofit organization in Dauphin,
Cumberland
,
Franklin
,
Lebanon
and Perry counties, and the Dillsburg area of
Northern
York
County
.
